560 slow and weak hydraulics

Hey guys. Looking for some advice on where to start fixing this tractor. 560 with slow and weak hydraulics. Been slow and rather weak for the past year, but now it won't do anything after a week of plowing. Where to start? Filters were changed a year ago. There is a loader connected to the front remote ports. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

...at least you didn't change the oil in the hopes that would magically heal the problem...

Anyway, you've got to be more specific about your problem... What do you mean by hydraulics? People call many things on these tractors "hydraulics" when they mean something else.

Hydraulics is not just the hitch on the back.

Does the loader work okay? That's part of the hydraulics.
Does the power steering work okay? That's also part of the hydraulics.

If you just mean the Fast Hitch on the back, that would point to a completely different problem than if the hitch, steering, AND loader don't work.

Have you put a pressure gauge and flow meter on it yet?

One circuit or all of them?

Have you checked the filter?

Take the filter out and see if it improves...

Oil level low?

Excessive water in oil?

Does it steer alright? IE Power steering acting OK.

Those are the easiest things to look at.. from there on out hands get dirty...

If all of the hydraulic circuits are low on pressure and flow I would be looking at the pump and plumbing...

Very good questions and points you bring up. Like I mentioned the loader is connected to the front remote prots. The loader is slow and weak as well. The 3 point is slow and weak. So i'll try with no filter in it and check the steering as well. Any other advice you could give is much appreciated.

I would think hard steering would stick in your head... It should be nearly impossible to steer with no power steering and the weight of a loader.

Right out of the chute, I"d say the hydraulic pump is worn out. The power steering pump is separate, and may be in the same condition as the hydrualic pump...you"ll experience slow and sluggish performance their, too, if that"s the case. You"ve not mentioned anything about the PS.

Just a thought...maybe not applicable, but...
Beneath the steering column on my 560, there a series of 3 "knobs" (supposed to be wrench-turned?) that control the speed of the hydraulics.

Seems like they should be tighter, but the one that controls the dump feature on mine I always manage to kick and throw out of adjustment...you might try turning one a bit to see if that helps. Mine will get to the point where the bucket won"t tilt at all, sometimes.

Can someone please explain where these are to be set? Are they for single vs double acting cylinders?

To answer your question, yes. Those valves are supposed to be turned all the way to the left or right. They are for 1 and 2-way hydraulics. Two way is power up and power down. One way is power up, gravity down. For one way you need a one way cylinder or a cylinder with the unused port vented.

The shaft has a roll pin through it and there is a retaining clip affixed to the valve stack that has detents to hold the roll pin in position so the valve doesn't switch on it's own during operation.
