The single point fast hitch on my Farmall 140 will not pick the disc or plow up high enough to transport it. The disc just clears the ground and the plow drags by an inch or so and really tears up good lawn. Not where I want to plow. The rear going arm that goes down to the fast hitch on the right side needs a turnbuckle added or something. The arm on the left side needs to be shortened. Thats the only places where I can see any improvement could be made. Any suggestions? Thanks OB

The arm on the right doesn't control lift. It tilts the angle of the hitch beam for depth control with the plow.

With the depth control lowered all the way down in front, it raises the rear of the hitch, and consequently whatever's hitched to it. It might be enough to bring the plow out of the ground. Normal transport position on the plow is only about 3" off the ground. Otherwise you wouldn't be able to lower it far enough to plow deep.

On the left side, are you sure you have the correct linkage? These were often abused, bent, ruined, and replaced with homemade pieces. The correct linkage should have some adjustment at the rear end with a nut.

Also, is your touch control working properly? Is it moving through the full range of motion? Does it have adequate power to lift the disk/plow (i.e. it's not stalling out before reaching full travel with the weight of the disk/plow on it)?

If you can determine that your touch control is working properly, then go ahead and do what you need to do to shorten the left linkage and gain yourself a little lift.

If all the parts are there, both lift links at the rear are adjustable. It sounds like you may be missing the arm in front that goes from the front of the "bail" to the front rockshaft arm on the right side of the tractor. That moves the front of the bail up and down and tilts it so the rear lift will be higher. If you don't have that and the front of the bail is attached under the floor pan, your plow won't work anyway. The front of the bail has to be tilted down to get the plow to go in the ground.

I think the touch control is working properly, How do I tell if it's stalling out?I don't really know how to check it out. The reservoir is full.

Someone has added a 1/2 inch spacer to the area between the nut and the spring on the left side arm. I have screwed the nut all the way down to shorten the linkage, but it's still too short.
Thanks OB

If the hitch is stalling out the tractor will sound "labored" and you may hear a noise from the hydraulic system like squealing or humming when the disk is attached.

It could be as simple as that left linkage being stretched. They do have a bend in them when they're new to clear the fender, but people often put too much weight on the hitch, which causes the rod to straighten out.

There should be a heavy spring between the nut and the part that connects it to the rear lift arms. From the parts diagram on the CaseIH website, it appears to be several inches long. Is that spring there?

If there's no spring, simply add a long enough spacer to get the lift you need.

hello, don,t know what your problem is but they make a extension that goes on the end of the rock shaft that will make it lift higher i have one if you are interested in it Keith
