Just got done rebulding the PTO housing on my 1942 H. Had a bit of trouble finding seals and bearing. I learned something that may help.
First off, about 6 months ago, I had to replace the left side seals, pinion shaft, and brake drum on my 1946 A. When I was done, I had an extra pinion shaft bearing in good shape. Well, turns out that the pinion bearing also fits the PTO on the H. Interesting as it is listed as a different part number. However, the bearing is identical.
Napa part number for the PTO housing seal is 13676. Original IH seal application was actually 2 seals, leather with steel case/spring. Replacement parts from IH were $30+. I installed 2 of the Napa seals (with a bit of grease between them) for $16 (each seal was $7.95).
In any case, I just wanted to share of bit of learned knowledge. What was looking to be a $75-$100 parts investment turned out to be under $20. Granted, I had the pinion bearing on hand, but interesting they are the same bearing.
