I just installed a one arm loader on my 1948 cub tractor. Is there anything I can do about real hard steering. Do all the cubs have hard steering or do I have something wrong with mine. Thanks for any info on this.

Have you jacked the front up to release the wt on the front spindles so the grease can get to the bottom of them and is the sreering box full of 90 wt. How much airpressure in the tires. These few things can make a difference.

hang weight off of the back
I added a WORKSAVER 3pt hitch and a 5' boxblade this got it back to normal steering with an empty bucket
second cub with a loader had a one point hitch with a 60" finish mower hanging off of it
both were hard to steer with out anything on the back
I have seen one with a CHAR-LYN torque motor added which steered real nice
good luck
Ron

I have a 'L/B with the IH 1000 one-arm loader. It's a bear to steer - no question. The previous owner put on "trailer tire tread" front tires and removed the tri-ribs. He claimed it helped - I can't imagine how tough it must have been. I overinflate them which helps, but it's the one negative to this set-up IMO. Craig

Cubs steer really easy until you put about 500lbs of weight directly on the front wheels...

Any tractor is going to be harder to steer when you add a loader, especially if it doesn't have power steering.
