more super a plow set up

hi everyone. i now have the plow all mounted and built a temperary draft arm but i am still haveing trouble geting it to dig in good. i was wondering how long should be? and my draw bar also apears to be bent about 1"-2" down on one side. could this be giveing be a problem? it seems to want to start slideing off to the left when i try to pull it in harder ground instead of diging in. thanks agin guys for the help and pics been a big help.

Well obviously, the drawbar should NOT be bent...

Have you got the depth control bar that connects the right hydraulic arm to the center hole in the drawbar?

With the right hydraulic arm rolled all the way to the rear, that drawbar should be almost dragging on the ground.

To get started in hard ground the the drawbar needs to be low to the ground to make the point dig in. The plow share or point must be in good condition. If the ground is hard, it will take 3 or more passes to get going. The first pass may only make a slight furrow. As the furrow wheel rides deeper in the furrow with each pass, the plow will go deeper. Also, the hitch has eccentric bolts where the hitch plate with the springs is bolted to the plow beam. You can adjust those bolts to tilt the plow side to side and make the point dig in better. If you jack the tractor up on the land wheel side (on a level surface) to the depth you want to plow and then let the plow down, the plow bottom should be level side to side and the landslide should also be pretty near level front to rear. The plow will also tend to push to the left some. This is normal, so when the plow is out of the ground, it will appear that it can't take a full cut because part of the share is behind the wheel.

thanks for the tips i need to know how long the bar for the depth control should be because we had to make one and i wanted to know if we made it long enough for sure.

Not sure how long the bar is as I never had one. I have a fast hitch with that bar. I think it would be different than the one for the drawbar. With rockshaft in rear postion the drawbar should only be about 3 or 4 inches off the ground.

In order to get instant penetration I hang a 150 lb wheel weight on the rear of the plow. Penetration is nearly instantaneous. My SA plow has a plow chief bottom and even with a sharp point it is slow to penetrate. If you have tall rear tires (such as 12.4s) the added height will effect your penetration and draft depth capability. If the plow pulls left or right adjust the cam bolt which changes the camber of the plow. Tightening the springs will also effect pull left / right as well as penetration.

As far as the draft link, I reproduce them from an original I have. If you are interested in an new draft link drop me an email.

Here is the factory bar on my Super A. You can see how long it is and exactly how close the drawbar is to the ground, when the front lift is lowered all the way down.

I just plowed with this a month or so ago and it did very well, going into the ground and turning it over. It did take about 3 passes before it was plowing good and deep.
