I recently took the single speed 1000 rpm pto out of the tractor and replaced it with a dual speed pto. I also at the time rebuilt the dual speed pto (all new seals, packing's, clutches, and rebuilt the operating valve) now the lever wont stay up. The pto runs and operates fine but you have to hold the lever up. It still has the 1568 linkage on it. Do i need to switch it over to the linkage that a 1466 has or is there something wrong with the operating valve?

The linkage that attached to the adjusting nut has to over center on the cam assembly that is pulled up by the rod going to the operating lever. There is also a spring to hold it in either the engaged or disengaged position. Make sure the top of the link goes past the pivot on the cam and that the spring is attached between the bottom of the rod and the access hole for the pressure check plug.
