Transporting Cutting Torch

Hey guys! Am going to North Dakota to pick up a tractor from my aunt next week. She wants the 3-point hitch transferred from the tractor I'm taking to one of her others. She does not have a cutting torch and I would like to take mine so I can heat up the rusty bolts and make things easier. What is the safest way to transport my troch system 600+ miles? Am thinking I need to unhook the regulators and put the spin on valve covers back on the tanks and strap them upright. What do you think??? Thanks!
 
Strap them upright. Remove everything from tanks.
Get thread on metal valve covers.
If you stop at a welding supply shop you can also get transportation caps or plugs for the tank valves. Kinda like the plastic ones that come on a new 20lbs propane tank. The welding shop should have brass ones.
You should have no problems.
Done it for years and never had a problem.
If for some reason you do get a ticket let us know and we'll all learn something new.LOL
Transportation laws seem to change daily.
Been in trucking 30 years with hazardous materials and radioactive materials and never could keep up with all the new laws. I don't have time to read 10,000 pages if you know what I mean.
 
As long as if you get stopped you are transporting these for personal use, you are fine. If transporting for a business use, you need proper Hazmat documentation.
 
I take the regulators off just some they won t get damaged from the weather, bugs and stray rocks. There is no haz mat regs to worry about you will be way under the 1,000# limit. You will need the safety caps installed, some acetylene tanks are not made for them and they are exempt from caps.

If you do lay down the aceteleyne tank. Put it back uprite for a half hour or so before using it where you are going, let the aceteleyne filter back to the bottom of the tank.
