White exhaust from H

I"m getting some pretty significant white exhaust smoke from my 49 H. I've done a compression test and all cylinders check out OK - 118 - 123 lbs is the spread. I'm wondering if one of the possibilities (or a _likely_ possibility) is a compromised head gasket. I haven't drained the oil yet. It's been six month's of very occasional use since it's been changed but for long enough periods it should have cleared any moisture that would have collected due to the weather. Extended runs reduces the white smoke a bit but it does persist and get thick with throttling up. There is a little blue in occasionally but the majority of the exhaust is white. What will be my next diagnostic steps to verify it's the head gasket? What's involved to correct it? Thanks for your time.

Pull the head and look, if obvious you have found the problem. Otherwise it could be a cracked head or block (hope not). That said, I have a Super A that put out white smoke only at idle. Engine is currently disassembled. Head gasket looked ok to me. Block and head were magnafluxed and passed. Will get it together sometime with all new internal parts and hope for no smoke.

look at oil condition and or check coolant condition. dark contaminated coolant, or let engine settle for a day or more and pull oil drain plug and see if coolant comes out. also what someone else mentioned is start it up and run it and look if you have bubbles being forced up in your radiator.
now there is a thingy you can buy that sticks into your radiator fill(forget what it's called) fairly cheap cone shaped thing that will sense C0 in your coolant and shows it on an indicator, try googling it.
also just smell the white smoke if it has a sweetish coolant smell thats a dead givaway..this is one more waything, but if you know someone in the automotive repair business with a 4 or 5 gas analyzer have them stick the probe at the fill of the radiator without touching the coolant and look for C0(carbon monoxide) readings...
these are just a few things that you can try...

Can you give me a little more to go on with the cone thingy? I'm not turning up anything obviously what you're talking about with Google.
