Farmall H Raffle

Everyone, Thanks for the help so far, a little update, and need to post pictures.

We are getting the engine back today, and it is ready for assembling. Bored out to SH Kit, head had to be sent to the Head guy to get welded up and cleaned up. Pistons are ready to go in, and the rearend has all new gaskets, seals, and cleanned for primer. Clutch is ready for the engines, waiting on brakes before rearend is ready completely ready for paint. ordered the battery box, wiring harness, light lens, decals, gauges, shifter knob and other parts today. New Titan tires came in last week.

Students are finsihing sandblasting rims, rails, and front end so it can all get primed bfore assemble.
A local auto body guy is willing to assist in straighting and painting of tins. It will go very fast.

Total Dollars spend on a high end restoration with just parts no labor is looking to be around $3,500. The best of the best, and is something everyone involved with should be proud of.

Quick questions, the students are thinking about selling tickets for $10 each, $20 for 3, $50 for 6 $100 for 20. That should about right?? Just making sure we are no our of anyones range. SOme wanted to sell only 50 tickets for $100. What is better? A high chance of winning or a cheaper ticket??

If you are going to just sell them locally I think the volume method would work better. If you are going to have it at the county fair or be dedicated to taking it to all large summer events in the area you might be better off with more expensive tickets. We have done both on our ATV raffle for the fire department and didn't see better results with either method. The best results came when the members selling the tickets were more dedicated ;) We had a great response taking our ATV to local events and just hanging out.

BTW, $3500 is super cheap on restoration. You must have had a ton of parts donated/great deals made. I put new seals and gaskets in my H rearend last summer with a few other parts and that cost over $1300!

500 tickets at $10, tractor to be given away when all the tickets get sold, no sooner, no later.

We had all machine work donated, which was like $750 and alot of sponsors who donated parts, and odds and ends. The Rearend does cost alot of money. The $3500 is just an estimated amount right now, but like all projects I am sure it will cost more. The students are working thier tales off and excited to see it fire up and parade it around.

I am planning on selling to whomever would like a ticket. I know there has been a few people states, away who said if we sell small number of tickets but a larger amount per ticket they would purchase them. I guess, I do not want to overprice them for the students whom have worked countless hours on it.

I think you'll be glad your pricing isn't yet set in concrete: "$20 for 3, $50 for 6" - you would be selling six tickets (two sets of three) for 2 X $20 = $40, or six tickets for $50. My guess is most purchasers will opt for the former deal. Or are you just seeing if we're paying attention? ;-)

It sounds like a very cool project, though. I hope it goes well for everyone involved.

Agree with Mark...

If you start at 1 = $10 , I'd set the next increment 3 = $25... then 6 = $45 , 12 = $85 , 25 = $160, 50 = $300 ... Basically discount each increment a little off of buying 2 sets of the previous increment.
