what-in-the....

Hey all. Had a slow fluid leak from a fitting on
an add-on hydraulic valve mounted to my F560 that is plumbed to the fast hitch. I removed a
couple hoses to get clearance to spin the leaking elbow out (so loose I could remove without a wrench). I cleaned it and used some
pipe dope on the threads. When I screwed it back in, it was starting to snug up but not tight enough in the rotation I need to run the hoses
correctly so I had to go around again and it was pretty tight when I got to the proper rotation.
I hooked the hoses back up and fired the rig up.
Raising the hitch is normal. Lowering the hitch
is slow and labored as if fighting against a load. If I shove the lever all the way forward
(down) there is a detent for a "float" function.
The hitch actually raises slightly. I'm thinking
that screwing in the fitting tight damaged the
valve (probably Chinese) and the check valve on
the piston side of the clyinder is binding and
not letting it empty out properly when filling
the ram side. Sound possible? Other ideas?
