450standard (diesel)

found a tractor the other day,its a 450diesel it says standard not to sure about what it is. wide front ect. runs but pump needs to be cleaned any info on what this tractor is would be appreciated. the guy also has a running wd6 needs some work but only wants $1000 for it and comes with a parts tractor.

Sounds like "needs to be cleaned" is sales talk for "needs to be rebuilt". Injection pumps either work properly or they cost many hundreds to get them to work properly. Just taking it apart for an instection and recalibration is probably $300.

Standard tractors are either Wheatlands, Industrials, or Orchards.

I haven't heard of a pump coming back for less than $1000. I would jump on the WD-6 if it is anything decent. Check out the tires and barter from there.

On the 450D. Probably not a standard, he is likely using the term standard to mean wide front end. Kind of the same, but not really.

the guy and his father have over a hundred tractors he told me that it said standard on the tractor idk havent seen it yet hope to see it soon. i havent really been around many farmalls other than the row crops so not really sure what it is. but he specifically said it was a standard what does this mean thanks

IH stopped putting the word "STANDARD" on Wheatland tractors after the Super W6TA.

If the 450 has the word "STANDARD" on it, that's not original. It should have a stainless steel emblem that reads INTERNATIONAL on the side if it's a W-450 Diesel.

The W-450 will have a similar stance to the WD6, as they are very similar tractors aside from the sheet metal. The W-450 is an evolution of the WD6.

On a Farmall you sit up high between the wheels. On a Wheatland you sit down between the wheels, hanging off the back.

Farmall pedals go almost straight up. Wheatland pedals are long and curved.

That should give you enough info to determine what the 450 is.

I agree, there's no such thing as "cleaning" an injector pump.

There IS a Standard Diesel engine, made in England - but I assume you are not referring to the engine? Standard Diesel was used by Allis Chalmers and Ferguson.
