I literally rescued this off of the junk mans trailer yesterday. It was on it's way to the scrappers.
Now I have to figure out what to do with it.
I was hoping it was for a C but that is obviously NOT the case. So I am looking for help in determining what it fits or a model number so I can find a manual. I am also thinking that I may be missing a few parts. Were there cylinders and mounts that should be used with this? Maby I can go back and look for those before they hit the junk pile as well. The only part number I could find anywhere was on a bracket (518879R1) and I know IH used a lot of common parts so that may not help.

I have a manual here for the HM-250 cultivator and it has a lot of similarities to what is on the trailer. Can't say for sure though. Manuals for those are very common on e-bay and not very expensive. If it is I would say a lot of it is there. Don't see any shields. Misc cultivator parts are also common on e-bay. Looks from the pic in the manual like the one way liftall type cylinder is used to raise and lower...IF it is the same model.

that is for a newer tractors;SMTA,300,400.the mounts are different from Hor M.uses the more modern 8"stroke cylinder.

Ok thanks all. I found and purchased a manual for HM-250 and I'll go look for a 238. I'll figure it out eventually..
Thanks again

by memory 5o years ago. not a 250 they used a square beam to mount shanks on not round 238? another possibility is model 255 introduced about 1955
