Thanks Janicholson for answering my post, the linkage seems fine Well I got the governor off the super c,took it apart and every thing looks fine. the thurst balances or what ever they are look like new and they were working good. the big spring was good now here is my question, the closed nut on the bottom of the gov.has a small spring inside it, does this spring fasten to something? if it does it is broken because there is but a quarter of an inch sticking through to the inside. never been inside of a gov. before so I need some help. thanks Jimmy

It is simply a "bumper spring" and seats inside the adjusting screw and sticks out to contact the yoke at lower speeds.

I remember you posted before, but don't remember the problem you were having with your governor.

The main bearing (near the gear is a common wear point. as are the places where the control and throttle shafts enter and leave. If the main bearing is loose, binding can occur. If the shafts are loose, they will bind in the housing, or rub against things. Best of luck. A repair manual with specifications may be the next step, unless others can help with slow response to lever movement, and the power response to load being poor (if I remember) Jim

That spring is for surging you adjust it to stop the engine surging. How much play is in the input shaft when they get worn it takes away the throttle response both increasing and decreasing engine speed. It can be renewed easy.

Thanks guys, will check more tomorrow, every thing seems tight except the end of the shaft that comes out of the gov.and goes across to the carb.linkage,it has a little play in the outside end that may be my problem. Thanks again, will let you know how it goes. Jimmy
