I just got a WD9 home today we got it running on gas but cant get it to run on diesle not sure the change over procedure Thanks Merv

If it is warmed up 2 to 3 minutes on gasoline, diesel should run as follows:
Turn on diesel fuel at tank, bleed both filters.
Set the diesel speed lever to 1/4 of travel
Quickly move change over lever to diesel.
If there is white smoke, the diesel is getting to the engine, if no extra smoke, there is no fuel.
If no fuel, check the fuel pressure gauge on the pump. if pressure, then the rack is probably stuck in the pump. (or other issues requiring service)
A stuck rack can be repaired With cleaning and solvent to remove varnished up diesel.
If it has been more than 2 years sense it ran, I would bet on the stuck rack issue.
Bleeding the injectors at the point the line enters the injector can also get some air out of them. Do this while it is coasting down as you try to start it after it is running on gas.
Linkage stuck going to the pump might be another problem to make sure the rod is moving going to the injection pump. Jim

Thanks Jim for your reply I need a manual . but for now diesel fuel is coming out of what I think is the oil filler on pump ( spring loaded cap 3/4 ot so) when i drain oil out of pump I get fuel not oil .is the cock an inch or so from the bottom of the pump a oil level check? with right hand lever all the way up or in middle I can get it to fire on diesel but wont stay running. Thanks Merv

That is definitive.
You are going to need to have the seals in the pump worked on. it could be literally cracked or broken. it should have engine oil only in the chamber, too the check port you mentioned. I would not try to run it any more until the pump was repaired. It might be clear what is wrong with it by taking it apart carefully on a bench, but shops might not work on it is it has been taken apart casually. (There are good diesel pump shops, I do not have a contact for a good one, the archives might provide a good source. Jim

Before removal, make sure you put the engine at TDC. also be sure to recognize the timing location and do not move the engine at all. Jim

Thanks Jim I will do the pump work, maybe find a used pump, or sell the tractor . I apreciate your time and knowledge Thanks Merv

I just got my MD injectors redone at DIS in Windsor, WI. They were very reasonable at $200 each with new valves and new everything in each. The Central Diesel guy would have been about 50% more than that, but I hear he is VERY good.

Too bad Sask is so far away, I would LOVE to have a WD-9. Bad pump or not. They are no big thing, only money. Couldn't it just be a bad lift pump seal causing inj pump dilution? That is a super cheap shot in the dark if it is a possible cause. No timing or any other stuff needed, just a $5(?) gasket.
