A friend has told me about a 560 he knows of for sale that has a good engine but bad rear end for a cheap price $1000 or so. Also he knows of one with a knocking engine but a new TA and good rear and tires for about $2000. They are supposedly both gas tractors dont know what years. Is it possible to swap these engines or are there several tings to look out for (different clutches, bell housings, etc)What would I do with the bad parts? scrap part them out park it in the trees? lol what do you think?

if they are both gassers, you should have no problem making 1 good out of 2 junkers.asfar as the leftovers, sit on them and let them 'disperse',dont haul them to the scrapper

If you were to reveal your location (zip code is good enough), some of us might make an offer for various surplus parts. That interest might be enough to swing your decision. Tractor serial numbers would also help.

Never could understand why some people need so much privacy when it comes to tractors. I am in Tewksbury, MA (gateway to Billerica, MA)

The simplest thing to do is split both tractors at the bell housing, and connect the good front end to the good rear end. They will bolt right together.

Trouble is you can by a pretty decent running 560 for less than $3000. I would want to pay a thousand or less a piece for the tractors you describe to make it worth while.

For $3K, you could have a good tractor with a new TA... what's that worth? Then save some critical parts for the future, hydraulic pump, etc., and sell off probably $1K or better of parts... what's the bad side?

yeah the info I got is pretty vague too and you know how it is only believe half of what you hear anyway. As far as parts i'm in NE and I bet shipping from me to you would kill us, but I've been wrong before so who knows.

I have seen some very nice 560s for close to or less than $3,000 and required no work to make it function. Swapping engines isn't that hard but it is still a lot of work without some good help. I would rather take $3000 and put it into 1 nice tractor than 2 half good tractors. No offense, but I have been in these situations before where you are told one thing and then when you get everything together, you find more worries.
