International 574 Brake Problems

I have a 574 with brake problems. Can"t bleed the brakes. I have followed the approved procedure with just a trickle of fluid coming out of the bleeder on one side only. Hydraulic system is full, ps and lift controls work quietly and proberly. No sludge. No crimped lines. I"ve even removed the caps on the tees going into the final drive to check flow. Very little flow out of the MTV valve going to the brakes.
Brakes were great last fall. Parked tractor for the winter and had no hydraulics upon restart. Changed filter, removed pressure spliter valve for initial bleed and all systems worked except brakes.
Help! Can"t figure it out. Bottom line, doesn"t seem to be any pressure anywhere to move the fliud through the system.

Hi Jim, Does the power steering work OK? If it works OK then the MCV splitter is working OK.
The brake system is fed from the return line from the oil cooler. There is a restrictor in the hydraulic line feeding the brake system up at the right side of the battery. Possibly a piece of dirt is blocking the restrictor orifrice. To bleed the brakes properly the hydraulic oil has to be up to operating temperature and tractor running at around 1500 RPM. Another hint, never pump the brakes on this tractor without engine running. The never 84 series have a reservoir to hold hydraulic oil for the brakes when the engine is not runnig.

Hope this helps

Jim, go the caseih.com search for parts 574 and there are two different brake hydraulic hook ups depending on serial number of 574 but both hook ups have screens and restrictors just in different locations.

JimB,
Thanks for the reply. I looked in the line (lines after the tee) I find no orfice. I did read about that in the forum so I went looking. I think my next step might be to pull all the lines and clean them out. Power steering and lift arms are working like a clock. Is there a way to prime the system. And about pumping the pedal with the engine off, I did that too. So how do I get that system primed up?

Another question. Should the line providing fluid to the master cylinders be under any pressure or is just bleed off from the return lines? My tractor has just a trickle coming down the lines.

Is the fluid coming from the oil filter supposed to be under any kind of pressure? Mine has barely a trickle out of it?

Jim, when you remove the hydraulic filter you only loose the fluid in the filter canister and it will drip a small amount. The supply to the brakes is only a T off the return line and there is very little pressure. You will have to bleed the brakes. Search the archives and you should find my procedure for bleeding the brakes.

I believe there is a hose that needs to be pinched off during the bleeding process to insure replacement oil to the master cylinder.

The brakes on the 574 are not power assist. The fluid passing by the master cylinder is there only to provide make up oil as the brakes wear.
