MF Grain drill

I have a McCormick MF grain drill with the small seed hopper on front. Need to know how to set it for fescue, operators manual does not tell.

The settings are in lbs per acre, right?

You gotta figure out how many lbs per acre you need to apply in your area when seeding fescue.

I know how much to put per acre, my problem is the op. manual does not cover the adjustment for the small seed hopper mounted on front. It has an adjustment for quarts per acre, 0-20. This is an MF drill 9x7.

Weigh a quart of seed, use that to calculate the number of quarts per acre. Check the calibration by rubberbanding small plastic bags over the seed tubes and catching seed while you run the seeder over a measured distance (I think a couple hundred feet would do). Weigh the seed you caught, and using the width of the seeder and the length you drove, calculate the actual lb. per acre of seed. The distance you drive will depend on the amount of seed you are trying to put on per acre, and the accuracy limits of the scale you use for the weights.
