The battery on my 46 H keeps draining down. I charge it up completely and it will be completely drained in a day or two. Any suggestions where to start? Thanks

A bad voltage regulator can drain a battery.

Unplug the battery wire on the regulator when the tractor is setting and see if the battery stays charged.

A bad cell in the battery will self discharge, causing the problem.
An electrical drain from a bad regulator or a light on, or other draw will also do it.
We need to know what you have for a charging system. Jim

My H has the original 6 volt system with the magneto and generator. The battery is 2-3 years old and 8 volt. I know there aren"t any lights being left on. I can charge it up one day and use it but 2 days later it"s completely dead. Thanks for your replies.

If you don't use it much disconnect the ground cable until you're ready to use it. You can also install a master switch in the ground cable that will isolate the battery from being grounded. Hal

If the generator system was causing the issue, it would go dead in hours, not days.
Auto stores sell cheap battery testers that use a set of floating balls in a small "turkey baster" affair. This checks specific gravity.
The specific gravity of each cell should be the same, and have an actual gravity of 1.150 to 1.175 when fulley charged. The cheap testers will just say one ball floating 1/4th charge, 2 balls floating ....etc.
If it is fully charged all balls should float in each cell. Do not get acid on you or clothes!!
There is no fixing a bad cell, it will take a new battery.
I recommend a 6v with good capacity, and 0gauge cables (nice and fat and with soldered on ends)
6v will crank it just fine. Jim
