how does the h shifter attach? does it attach similiar to a w-4. is it basically a straight chunk of metal. i'm looking for a different shift lever for my modded w-4 and would like something that comes up straight. i was going to take a chunk of 3/4" id tubing and make up a shift lever but thought a "factory" shifter might look a bit cleaner. thanks.

This pin is held in place on each side by a frost plug so just trying to drive out what looks like a pin will be futile. Poke a hole through the center of one frost plug and drive
out the pin and the other plug.

(quoted from post at 21:21:50 03/29/10) Would it be easier to heat it and benb to the desired shape?cheaper?

If they use the same four way hole setup as an H it should work really well. I would guess they just about give away the H shifter handles. There probably isn't too much demand for that part.

I am pretty sure everything below deck is the same. But finding a lever that's not worn out will be the next thing. You can build them up with a welder and it should look like this.
