SUPER M BELL HOUSING

I HAVE A 1949 FARMALL M , LOOKING FOR A SUPER M BELLING SO I CAN USE A 3 BOLT STARTER , SO IF YOU HAVE ONE OR KNOW WHERE I CAN GET ONE , PLEASE LET ME KNOW

Seems like a lot of trouble just to use a three bolt starter.

Is the ring gear diameter the same on a SM as an M or do you have to change the flywheel and clutch as well?

You might find an MD bell housing to take the three bolt starter.

NEED AND OR WANT IT FOR ADDITIONAL COMPRESSION I AM DOING , THATS ALL , IF I USE A SUPER M BELLHOUSING I HAVE MORE OPTIONS FOR STARTERS,

Use a hitorque/gearreduction starter, you'll have all the starting power you need.a good starter shop can make you one. Also, make damn sure the SM bellhousing and the M will fit.there some differences .I learned this the hard way.

Why cant you just change the bendix end on the SM starter and put the two bolt end on. If you could find a M#W reduction end for the original it would also work. Lots of ways to start your engine without changing bell housings

The three bolt housing will allow use of much larger starters like the 35MT and 37MTseries used on the larger 66 and 86 series diesel tractors.
