Alt. belt, 350 Utility

Brother just bought a 350U/loader. It needs an Alternator belt. It has a front pump, two sheaves on the water pump. Alt. belt goes on the back sheave. Here"s the question, how do we get the fan belt off in order to put the Alt belt on. Don"t believe the fan belt has a tightener to loosen and I assume the frt hyd. pump attaches to the crank. Then of coarse the loader frame is in the way to see well. thanks.

I just did this a month ago, and its sure a real real pain... you have to remove the pump on the front of the loader and disconnect the coupler from the crank to the pump. (you most likely will have to remove radiator to gain access to this part) Once you have that out of the way you can 'try' and get the flange on the pulley to spin and loosen the tension on the pulley belt. Remove pulley belt and then you can remove the generator belt. Now there is another method that you can use however its not really a 'correct' fix. This would involve using a split link belt. The way they work is you just connect the two ends together and go. The main purpose of these belts really is an emergency when you need a belt to get home or the job done. However you could try it, just no guarantee. The link belt way will take about 10 mins the correct way will take about 2-3 plus hours.

If you know how to loosen the fan belt, you can roll alt. belt out under fan belt over fan and out.
to loosen fan belt, the front half of the double sheave has threads, which makes the sheave wider or narrower, thus tight or loose. Be da--- careful and not break front flange, then the process is a lot longer!!!!
