changing 46 A to mag

Ive got a 46 A that every time i need it ( once or twice a year) the batt is dead! i have a mag from a H and iam thinking that it will work on the A. am i right? thanks Bob

If you disconnect the battery and put an inexpensive battery maintainer on it it will be fine. If it has an alternator, suspect a battery drain (see the response two threads above) Jim

I have 7 Farmalls that get very little use. I expect to have to charge the battery or hand crank them if they haven't run for several months. Or use a battery maintainer as noted. You CAN crank start a distributer equipped tractor provided the battery is not completely dead, even if the starter will not turn it over.

I put a battery disconnect on all my old tractors. The longest I have had one sit is on year, and when I started it up this spring it acted like it was just shut off 10 seconds ago

I dont use this tractor very often. and its not at home. so i think that its going to be mag fired. thanks guys for all the help. Bob
