I've got the brakes apart on my 300U. I have them all cleaned up ready to go back together. My question is what should I lube the balls with before I reassemble.

I lubed mine with regular grease gun/axle grease (very lightly, of course). That was seven or eight months ago; no problems yet.

I used high-temp copper-based anti-seize. I used the SM daily year-round for hauling manure and if I was raking hay I was on it, too, and I tended to use the brakes a lot for my tight turns. Tore them down about once a year and it sat outside all winter.

Either use nothing or a dry lubricant like spray on graphite. Any lubricant that does not dry will collect brake dust and can lead to brake problems.
