I have Band Brakes on my H. When I went to install the new ones yesterday, The new bands are rubbing ever so slightly on the drum. I know that they are all the way in there "Relaxed" state. One friend told me that they would just wear themselves in. Please Help!

-Thanks, Cole

They will tend to ride against the drum lightly just by nature. There is a set screw in the bottom of the cover that you can adjust to hold the band up to keep it from dragging.

Exactly. That is what that set screw is for.

Did the band fit the contour of the drums reasonably well. I had two different sets of new ones from different suppliers that were egg shaped and when I tried to get them to conform to drum it would pull the lining away from band. Ran one set about 40 miles on the road, took them out, gave them back to my distributor to show his supplier, found some good used ones that work great. Never heard anything about the others and didn't bother to ask. And oh yes, I have been involved with this style brake for 50 plus years now.
