live hydraulics

Is it possible to convert an early 43 M to live hydraulics, believe I have all the components on a late M with live hydraulics, is it a simple unbolt and reinstall and plumb, will I need to change the belly pump resivoire?

Hey Ben,
I hope you have a Behlen pump on the other M to go on the '43 because the IHC live pump won't bolt up to the '43 tractor. To use the IHC pump, you have to use the front engine cover from a post 1951 tractor. You can use the belly pump for an oil reservoir after first removing the drive shaft. Good luck.

its not a bad job to convert. if you have a late m with the live pump, switch the timing cover so the pump will bolt right up. also, change the camshaft gear to the later heavy duty style. the early gears were not strong enough to run a live pump (for long anyway) you can use the belly pump as a resevoir. its possible to plug and redrill and tap the top two bolt holes to mount the live pump on an eary m without changing the timing gear cover. email is open if any ???'s glenn

Correction to my earlier post:
While Behlen may have made a live hydraulic pump(I kinda think they did), what I meant to type was I hope you have the M&W pump cause it will bolt right up to the ole M. The rest of my post is OK I think.
Things are going all right up here. It is finally feeling a little like spring!
I see you are still finding some treasures now and again. If you ever get up my way, drop by to see me.
