I have an 886 with the 358 engine i am told that it is the german deisel and the 360 is an american engine that was installed in alot of 886 anyway. I was in a discussion that ended stating the 360 will not handle a turbo the crank will break every time but the 358 will handle the turbo very well it is difficult to get installed but works good on this model. Does anyone have a comment on this. also a cost verses HP gain guess

if wanting more HP buy a bigger tractor, 986 or 1086, prob get one of those cheaper than what your 886 is worth, my 2 cents

I was just wondering on the turbo issue I currently use it on the tilliage work we still plow but only about 50 acres anymore and I run the round baler in the summer about 200 5x6 bales and 15' mower in the fall for pasture and stalks. It is just a little sluggish it is in very good shape cab heat air tires ect. I could but a 1086 any where from 8000-15000 but have to go all over it I really do not need more hp just thought the turbo thing was interesting.

I have a 1980 886 with the D360 in it and I just cranked the pump up to get alittle extra power. I am getting 100 horse on 540 pto. My tractor only has 4300 original hours. As for the turbo i dont know.

Funny, because in trucks the D(T)360 has a turbo, and is turning out about 185HP IIRC.

I don't know where these guys get these funny ideas about tractor prices... They'll tell you you can pick up a decent 986 or 1086 for $6000 or $7000. I've never seen it. I'd buy all I could find at those prices. Maybe if you look everywhere every day and just happen across some numbskull who doesn't have any idea of tractor pricing... Usually though the numbskulls think their beat, bald-tired, rusty, parts-fallin'-off, TA's-out, smokin'-and-shakin' heap is worth $15,000.
