Tractor Identification By Serial Number

Yes, you just have to understand the system, but I am not familiar with all the additional numbers on the later tractors. I think the serial on that one is 531, or the 31st tractor built, serial of the first one was 501. Someone else can correct me or explain the meaning of the remaining numbers.

IH had a stange system. I also believe the numbers to the right of the second B is the serial number. IH liked to start alot of models with the first serial number 501.
Sorry I can't tell you the model.
As stated in the other post yours may have been the 31st one built for whatever model it is.

Should have said the last part of the serial number is the part of the number that will be used when finding year built from a serial number/year chart.
Try giving a dealer a call.

That serial number is for a "modern" IHC tractor model. The first series of numbers is for the model, but I don't know how to read them, and the second series of numbers is the serial number. On the older IHC tractors, prefix letters denoted the model, then the serial number, then suffix letters denoted the various equipment or features of that particular tractor.

(quoted from post at 20:47:19 03/24/10) The Tractor is International, the serial number is B630001B000531

Is there any rhyme or reason to Internationals serial Numbers?

B 630 001 B 000531

I do not know the significance of the first B. The next groups of numbers are codes indicating how the tractor was equipped when built. The B in the middle is the country of origin, such as, A for Australia, B for Great Brittan, U for United States. The last six digits are the sequential serial number.
