Just shooting from the hip here. The pistons, camshaft and cylinder head of a D414 and DT414 interchange. You should take some plugs from the block and install oil jets to cool the pistons. Then bolt on your turbo, recalibrated pump, and have at it.

Dosnt the 966 have the 436?am I mistaken? Also, you may have the horsepower, but a 966 only has a cat.2 3pt and is alittle lighter in the rear end. Back in the '70s,our local IH dealer refused to turbo 966s because guys would turn em up and shell em out

The 966 and 1066 are both 414CI engines. The 1066 has 12 piston cooling jets, the 966 has 6. The pistons and rings are different. The cylinder head is different. The water pump has an eight blade impeller on the 1066, four blades on the 966. (If the pump has been replaced there is good chance that it has the eight blade impeller installed.) The oil pump is larger in the 1066. The radiator is thicker in the 1066. 966 has a 12 inch clutch, 1066 has a 14 inch clutch.
