Farmall M and Super M

Hello, Can someone explain to me the technical differences between the Farmall M and Super M Tractors? Thank You

The Super M has a 264 engine(which is 1/8 bigger than the M. It has disc brakes for starters.

Only other major difference (there were several small ones) was the faster 2nd, 3rd, and 4th gears. 4th was 6+mph compared to 5 and a fraction for the M, 3rd was about the same as 4th in an M, about 5 mph. There are advantages and disadvantages to the increased speeds.

Other things are live hydraulics on the stage II Super Ms, 1953 models mainly. Stage I's, 1952'2 had the same belly pump hydraulics as the M.

Some of the last M came out of the factory with disc brakes as well.
