eletronic ignition

To get my old H started today had to file the points after sitting all winter. Points were last replaced 10 years ago. As I need to replace the points do you guys think I should go electronic and if so what brand? The H is a 1943 6 volt positive ground with a 7 foot woods mower deck I cut 5 acres of grass. Thanks dan

No real reason to do so, 10 years on 10.00$ worth of parts is cheap. they are easy to fix, and just work. If I was going to use it for production, I would replace it with Petronix electronic. Jim

Just stick with the points, if you got a decade of service out of a set of points then its an easy 10 dollar fix. The electronic ignition is going to set you back over 100, just to keep in mind.

I have a '43 H and just purchased Pertronix electronic setup from this web site. They have the best price at $70.00 for the 6 volt positive ground (1442p6).

I agree this site has a good price, but once you see one of the pertronix units, you'll wonder why it has to cost even that much. In my opinion, a guy should be able to buy that unit for around $20 or less.
