IH hyd cylinder

I'm hoping that someone can tell me what I'm doing wrong... I've got a old single action IH hyd cylinder that I'd like to rebuild but I can't get it apart.
The bottom is welded, but the top looks like it should unscrew from the body. I've tried turning it but it only spins. Their is a small slit in the body up near the op where you can see what looks like a lock, and when the vent/discharge hole is lined up with the slot their is a gap. Any ideas?? I think the revision numbers are still readable...

There is a sort of wire clip in that slot. You should be able to get a screwdriver under the end of that clip, and then just sort of roll the clip out, and then the cylinder should come apart.
