I would like to know what Cub Cadet model used a Kohler K181 engine? The serial number is 87762 which indicates it is a 1964. What would the horsepower be for such an engine?

According to the information that I have, Kohler used a 161 in the seven horse and a K241 in a 10 horse.

The K181 came in a Cub Cadet 86 which was also rated for 7 horse. Production run of these was from 71-74. You may have a different engine in the Cadet your looking at but the 86 was the only one that used the K181 that i know of.

The K181 is the replacement engine or short block for the K161. Its a 8 HP engine. The dealers would install this as a replacement in the Cub Cadet Original,70, 71,72 or 73. A lot of tractors got the K241 10 HP as the replacement engine also. Hope this help. Kent
