IH 606 motor startup!!

I have just put together a new motor for my 606.
This is my first engine rebuild and I was following
the tech manual step by step, but I was wondering if
there are any other pointers for me out there before
I put gas in it and try firing it up. Any help would
be appreciated!! Thanks - joe
 
Pump the oil galleries full of engine oil with a squirt oil can. (It may take a few cans, but it will start with oil pressure.
The hole where the pressure gauge attaches is fine. Jim
 
Thanks for your help Jim!! Would you happen to know about timing? I think I have things lined up but is there something else to look for?
 
Alignment of gear timing (probably diesel) and assuring that both injection and cam timing are by the book is all there is. If the pump went back in and was set to the same marks and position, it will run. Jim
