706 with 282D

Need your opinion on buying a 706 with the 282D
I found what appears to be a nice tractor but I don't know anything about 706's. I would like to know what kind o weekness they had. I am only going to be doing light work with it.

Check the cylinder head for leaks, the 282 is prone to head cracks and leaking head gaskets. See if there is water in the oil. Also, shifters on the 06 series are not great. I like my 706 with the 282 and am getting a lot out of it. It's a tough old machine.

706 are good tractors.had mine for 26 yrs.has 10,000hrs.converted to '56' shifters.282s are ok,hard to start,also used em in 560s,656s.310 germandiesels are lotsbetter.
