I have a farmall h head with cast number 8776-D. It has the wrong valves and I was looking to put the right ones in it. I know it is not a high compression head but i do not know if it is a kerosene or distillate head. The head has shims under the rockers and was wondering if that could cause a random miss? And I was wondering where I could find the new valves? Any info would be helpful.

Distillate, case ih online parts still shows the valves. Someone probably put gas head or other longer valves in it sometime and shimmed the rockers so adjustments could be made. Shouldn't cause a miss if all the valve clearances were okay.

I bought an H that did not run smooth at idle. It ran fine at half throttle or under load. I found that it had shims under the rocker arm mounts. I could not adjust he miss out of it. I found that someone had put high altitude valves in it when the engine was rebuilt. I bought new valves from IH, they are not cheap but they fixed the problem. I think the valves were made in India.
