Voltage regulator question

I'm in the process of rewiring a h farmall with a voltage regulator. The regulator on has three tabs,

Gen, Batt and field. The generator has a stud marked F and A. When I look at Bob farmall wiring. It appears that the regulators have four tabs.

Here is what I've done starting on the regulator:
The tab marked batt goes to the amp meter.
The tab marked field goes to the field stud on the generator. The tab marked Gen goes to the "A" stud on the genarator.

Is this correct? Thanks for all replies replys.

Correct, but make sure that there is a good ground connection between the regulator base/ mounting tabs, generator mounting bolts, & the tractor frame. Clean, no paint or old grease on ground connections.

Forgot to say that the 4th terminal is usually marked "L" or lights/ load. It was mainly there to take up the voltage drop from having the lights on. 3 terminal regulators took a small amount of time to sense voltage drop at the battery when a load was applied. This is from an old Delco service manual.

You have done it correct now polorize the gen and you should be ready to go. I would use an OHM meter to make sure ALL componets have chassis ground even the control with the lite sw needs good ground. Just put one lead from meter to the positive ground battery post and other lead to the componets to make sure they are grounded to the battery. His drawing shows a reg where the lites are connected to the reg and the old original ones didnt have that connection.

Yeppers, the way you have the VR wired is okay.

Its possible to convert from a 3 to a 4 terminal VR or vice versa. Either will work with only a minor wiring change.

HOWEVER: If the tractor previously used a 4 terminal VR where the extra 4th (L)oad terminal was used to feed hot battery to loads such as Lights and Ignition, you now need to feed those from the Load (NOT battery/starter) side of the Ammeter. If the tractor has the wire already down there that used to wire to an L terminal, you can simply connect it along with the BAT terminal (it also wires to Load side of ammeter anyway) but I prefer to re wire it direct to the ammeter in such cases.

Dont forget to Polarize the Genny prior to start up.
