What are these worth both working and non working units?

Yes, we are interested in selling this. It is located in Illinois. South Chicagoland area.

I hope to clean it up this weekend and have a farmer hook it up to his pto to test to see if it works.

You should give us all a break by posting the pictures as I have done (and do with my own pictures). After all, you are asking for a favor here.

For those who haven't gone to Rustymonkeys's Photobucket site, there are five more pictures.

If the Electrall can put out 10KW, your trailer unit might be worth a minimum $1500. If you really want to know what it is worth, put it on eBay with a reserve of $2500. If it doesn't sell, relist for $2000, then $1500.

If it doesn't put out, it is a parts machine and worth somewhere between $200-$1500. Sounds to me like you want to sell it. Make sure you take some better pictures.

Even though I have two Electralls, I am not an expert appraiser. I saw two Electralls in better condition go for about $1800 ea at one auction in PA about three years ago.

Is there anything that I need to do to this before we try to use it on Saturday to see if it works? I don't want to do anything to break it.

Thanks

We just tested this on Saturday. It works. :D Is there anyone interested in this before I put it on Ebay? We are located about 35 miles south of Chicago. 10 miles or so South of I-80.

This can be either picked up in Frankfort, IL or Bourbonnais, IL.

I think you will only get lowball offers here. Put it on eBay for best results. There is a collector in IN but a larger one in IA north of Des Moines. He doesn't read this website.

The guy in IA will not be overbid. I have never seen him lose an eBay Electrall. This is a perfect opportunity to have several friends put up "shill" bids. You should do well.

Encourage the price to build during the auction. In the last five minutes, have someone place a $2800 bid. The IA winner will take it for the next increment because his maximum bid will be much higher although I have no idea what it will be. I have tested him several times but have still lost. Make sure that your shill bidders are compensated with a gift or a small percentage if the price achieves some predetermined level. Is this a violation of the Davis-Bacon Act. It may be but I am not a lawyer.

I probably shouldn't have responded to this topic. Maybe his friends read this forum. I say "make this guy pay" for trying to corner the market.

Thanks for your input. I appreciate it. You might want to edit your post though. Thanks again. It should be on ebay later tonight.

Sometimes the truth must be stated :D I have never seen Wardner be so blunt. Usually I am the Ahole! I would generally say something like, If you are trying to sell it TAKE IT TO THE CLASSIFIEDS!!! ;) I haven't seen much luck on the YT classifieds, but haven't tried too hard.

I expected some negative feedback from my post. Mostly in regards to the "shill" strategy.

Fellas, that's life - that's business. I have seen it countless times in person at industrial auctions. I assume it is rampent on eBay. Personally, I don't have a problem with it. Every bidder should know what he is willing to pay for an auction lot. I let the fools overpay.

Most people have no idea how to bid at eBay. Anybody who bids more than 10 seconds before the closing is putting his bid at risk. The system is set up for the benefit of the seller as it should be. He is the one who pays the listing fees.

If I was an "ahole", I never would have written my two previous replies on this thread. I would have lowered Rustymonkey's expectations and followed up with a lowball offer. I thought I was giving good council as a knowledgeable third party. I own three Electrall products and follow the market. I guess no good deed goes unpunished.

As for using YT classifieds, I don't think much money changes hands here. Why do so many ads get relisted? Why don't people use the "cancell ad" feature that YT provides.?

Warden,

I appreciate your help. Thanks for all that you have done for me and my family. Thanks for being honest with me. There is no negative feedback from me. Thanks again for your honest feedback.

I have posted this on ebay if anyone is interested in bidding.

Cool, I wish you luck on eBay. I know I won't buy it! That is a ton of money, but I do know it is worth that much to the right person.

Like Wardner said, the dick way would have been for him to tell you it was worth $100 and then give you his email address. I think he handled it as a good guy would.

As for ePay strategy, why even get buddies!?! You could just get more login ids! It is even worse than a real auction with birds and buddies bidding. As stated, you have to know what you want to pay AFTER SHIPPING and bid accordingly. It would be nice if eBay used a system similar to what the online cattle aucitons do. There has to be no bid activity for 5 min before the auction will close. That way snipper software etc is rendered useless.

(quoted from post at 00:38:02 03/23/10) Warden,
Send me an email with the guys username if you would please.

Thanks,
Karl

Couldn't find your email addy and the PM feature doesn't work on this site.

His eBay user name is Electrall. Something in the back of my mind keeps suggesting that he also uses another handle as well. I faintly remember doing some snooping around on eBay before they started using bidder protection aliases. Because you are a seller, you are priveledged to see the bidder handles.

I know his real name and address but won't publish it here. You will have to email me for that at:

wardner at peoplepc dot com

I doubt if he will bid until the last hour or less. I was the first bidder at $0.01. It is highly unlikely I will bid again. I did it so that eBay will keep me notified before the end of the auction so I can watch the action.

I suggest you change your shipping terms. You restrict the pool of potential bidders and price appreciation by not choosing to ship by motor freight. Allow the buyer to arrange his own shipping including pickup by the carrier. If you can't be home for the pickup, deliver the Electrall to a friend, a business you trust, or a nearby freight terminal specified by the buyer. The latter two will band it to a pallet and be able to handle it. Good luck.

I was disappointed when I saw your shipping arrangement modification on the Electrall. It is as follows:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[i:0d7066abc3]On Mar-24-10 at 11:46:17 PDT, seller added the following information:
I am also willing to ship by motor freight. I will allow the buyer to arrange his own shipping including pickup by the carrier. The pickup time must be convenient to my work schedule. I will not be responsible for banding it to a pallet or to supply the pallet.[/i:0d7066abc3]
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I suspect that you don't have a forklift or tractor loader so that means the truck will need a lift gate. The buyer will have to pay that charge so he needs to know that.

As for banding, it is not that difficult. Go to Home Depot and get some of those 3' long plastic tie-wraps. Put a couple through each wheel and around a pallet board. Or remove the wheels and do the same. Depending on the pallet size, you may have to remove the PTO shaft and drawbar or coupler. None of this is a big deal and you really need to meet the buyer halfway on this shipping. You can find pallets everywhere.

I also suspect the Southside of Chicago has an untold number of freight terminals. It used to be the shipping center of the country and serviced by all national carriers. It probably wouldn't be an inconvenience to deliver the banded Electrall to one of them if you have a pickup.

I just want to say that most people think that shipping heavy objects is difficult. That goes for buyers and sellers. Remove the buyer's anxiety by learning how to do it. You can ask here or call a freight terminal. Everything starts when you know the destination. Ask for at least a 60% discount and whether they have pallet rates. That rate is applied to a standard pallet weighing less than 2000 lbs.

It's nice to see that your listing got off to a spirited start.

This is back on ebay with a lowered reserve price. Thanks for the interest. Please do not bid if you are not interested in buying this.
