super c toolbox studs

got the toolbox off of the super c this weekend and the studs to hold it down are toast. only one still had a nut on it. went to the local farm store to get bolts and nothing fits it. its 1/2", but the threads dont match up. Checked on caseih parts site and that stud is retired. any suggestions?

Is it just the difference between coarse and fine threads? Not sure if it's NF on both ends, but the book calls for NF nuts to hold the toolbox down to the studs both in the listings for the toolbox and seat and for the tranny cover). If you're trying to replace the studs with bolts, I suppose it's conceivable that the lower end, where it threads into the tranny cover might be NC.

Shouldn't oughta be any choice except NF-20 or NC-13. Paw around a little in what's available. A lot of places will stock one thread in Grade 8 and the other in Grade 5.

If you can get the studs out, with vice grips, double nutted or whatever, just replace them with bolts.

(quoted from post at 20:12:59 03/14/10) thetop side is nf, but the bottom is coarse, but I cant find a nut to match the thread. I will do some more checking.....

Just finished my super c today box is held down on mine with 4- 1/2"x13 coarse thread bolts I removed old studs and chased threads with a tap and worked fine much easier than fighting the studs.

Hey Patrick,
If you do want to go back with studs, NAPA has some that are coarse thresd on one end and fine thread on the other.
