Finished the touch control unit rebuilt and reinstalled on the tractor this morning. I was very encouraged when the tractor turned over 100% better than it ever had before. She popped right off and I proceeded through the bleeding procedures IAW the manual. Nothing..... The pump is still getting real hot, but the arms won"t move........ Put the gauge on it, and it"s reading a steady 470 lbs of pressure. Spent a few hours scooping dog poop out of the yard thinking about it, and I think I"m going to take the pump off and take a detailed look at it. Probably should have done that in the first place since the inside of that reservoir was so nasty. If that doesn"t work I"m going to pull the unit off and tear it down again. I talked to a mechanic at the I.H. dealer in town last week and he said it took him six times tearing one down and putting it back together before he got it to work! The bad part was he couldn"t remember what finally made it work! Ughhhh

Where exactly are you pressure testing? Is all the oil getting hot or just the pump? It sounds like a blockage causing the oil to go over the relief which would heat the oil rapidly. Maybe a circuit dead ended. The pressure should almost be nothing on a system that is just circulating oil.

Pull the orifice and orifice screen back out and clean them. You can reach them through the pipe plug in the Touch-Control head.

I"m pressure testing at the 1/4" plug on the rear of the manifold. The oil is not getting hot, just the pump. When I took the pipes off I cleaned them out and ensured they were not blocked.

do you have a bypass block installed but no longer plumbed correctly? They are meant to divert the hydraulic pressure from the pump to an external valve for remotes and then from that valve to the touch control unit. Once the block is installed, you need an external hose loop if you do not use an external valve with it.
Any on-farm customized hydraulic plumbing done by the previous owner can give strange results if you do not know how it was meant to work, although the customizer may not have known what he was doing either.

If you don't have any external plumbing causing issue, you may have missed something when inside such as not cleaning a hidden passage or improperly installing valve. At this point, it's likely something simple that will cause the most difficulty. By your pictures posted before, cleaning and disassembly was not in vain.

Wish i was of more help.

Tony, Gurneejoe might have identified your pressure issue. As I recall from your email I received earlier the fast hitch hydraulic circuit was removed and capped at the remote valve. My tractor hydraulics book is with my tractor where we are restoring it and can't look up the system to see if the relief valve for the system with the fast hitch set-up is down stream from the remote valve on the right side of the touch control unit. It might be in that block which mounts to the transmission cover in front of the operators seat where the hoses from the remote valve go before going under the seat/tool box to the hydraulic cylinder on the fast hitch. From looking at your photos the whole hydraulic system needs a good cleaning including the pump and that block which contains something like a check, poppit, or relief valve might need to be in the loop for your testing process. You might want to clean and flush out the whole thing and install that block and all the hoses and see what kind of pressure you have on the system at that time. Just more thoughts but seems like you are making progress, good luck and thanks for the follow-ups,Hal.

Karl; You may have hit on something. My friend brought this tractor over to me on a trailer and in boxes. Took me the better part of 3 months just to put it together and get it running. I have no knowledge of a bypass block. Please enlighten me....?????? My friend took off the cab and remote hydraulics before he brought it over to me. I put two 1/4" plugs in the manifold where the hoses hooked up to stop the hydraulic fluid from squirting out when I cranked the engine. See the picture. I"m a novice and have never worked on a Super C before.
