Live PTO out on SMTA

When I dynoed my SMTA it tore the pto out. The parts sale is on this week and I was wondering what I needed to rebuild the PTO so it works again. Is it just this:
34 2 359059R91 BAND BAND, brake
and a gasket to repair?
39 1 360154R1 GASKET GASKET, housing cover
He said he tightened it up as tight as he could and it still slipped.
If there is an easier/cheaper way to fix it for the next 50 years of light duty use let me know.

I am trying to get the parts diagram on, but it is fighting. I will try back. It is on Super M-TA Chassis 274-Independent PTO

Here is another try at the parts diagram.

tear it apart firsr and find out what is wrong before you order parts.besides worn cltches, you could have badbearings or any number of worn or broken parts.Fix it right, you will not be sorry.with a halfa** fix,you will be back in to it,sooner than later. And who knows, maybe you or afuture owner may want to bale some hay or dyno it again.

I understand that when I get in there I may need more stuff. My point is this isn't going to happen for months and my dealer is offering 10% off all parts this week only so the parts that I know will need replacing might as well get ordered.

ord of advice, if possible get your bands relined. Don't buy new if you can help it. Reason being is that the bands when we priced them were well over $400 a crack. When we had the PTO in our 450 gone through we got them relined for less than $200. Your dealer might know of somebody who relines the bands. Ours did. If they don't know then ask and I'll see which place our dealer uses. We just pulled the chunk outta the tractor and gave it to the dealer to rebuild. For us that was the easier/faster thing to do.

Problem is, 10% off parts didn't need leaves you spending money that didn't need to be spent.

What if everything in the PTO unit is fine, and it actually turns out to be the splines in the IPTO gear up at the main engine clutch?

I'd buy a take out for $100 or less. In fact you could probably buy at least five and save money over getting new parts. On top of that, you may need tools or modify your existing tools to do the servicing.

eBay always has several up for bid. If you are not in a hurry, wait until somebody local to you puts one up. The shipping might equal the complete PTO.

I have it pulled and replaced with the factory PTO delete plate. The drive line all looks intact. I'll just get the gasket and skip the bands.

I might just take you up on that!

I called the dealer just for fun and he said the PTO Bands were >$600 each. I stopped listening after the 6XX :D I did order two valve cover gaskets so I can run the rack on my MD and my H. I am not sure I want to on my SMTA bc it pulls too good the way it is ;)

(quoted from post at 20:16:10 03/10/10) I TOLD YOU READ MY POST ABOVE IN REGUARDS TO THE BANDS!!!!

Not exactly, you said well over $400. I said they were over $600! Granted $600 is over $400. Not even close to $400 in my book. I suppose they can get you even more bc there are less and less everyday.

ead again, I said get your current bands relined. Much much cheaper. It was about 2 years ago the PTO went outta the 450 but it only cost us about $200 to get the bands relined. If your dealer doesn't know of somebody who relines the bands let me know I can get you in touch with the folks that did the bands for our $450.

I understand. I just priced the whole new units for fun. I was just letting the folks know there was a 50% price hike over the last couple years.

I think I will take it apart someday. I don't have a decent place to do it right now. If they are riveted on I should be able to take it to a truck shop and get it relined. They do that with brake bands so it shouldn't be too tough for them.

I will let you know if I need your guy.
