15-30 question

How often should one oil the rockers.Would an extra oil line for an overhead oiler be worth my time? This is a brannew eng with 22-36 sleves and pistons. 1924 gear drive. Hoss

I would say "regularly," but I am not answering to your question.
I would like to ask you: where did you find new sleeves and pistons for your 22-36, if you did find new ones?
I may need some.

The decal that goes on the valve cover says "Oil Valve Levers Daily" Also if you add an oil line it needs to have a valve in it and you use that to fill the oilers and then turn it off. If you leave it on the oil will run out of the breather pipe, It cannot return to the pan and you will run your new engine out of oil.

my friend plumbed his 15-30 to have a oil line run up and fully lube the valve train. I forget what line he used to get it there but it was a 'T' in the line. Iv also seen this done on regulars and f20's too. Not really sure you need to do it, they have run 75 year without it...however its a interesting conversation piece though

in your case i would say before start ups as you probably wont be useing it daily.i have seen some with pretty worn out guides also.yours must have the early splitdorf magneto before the e4a mag. came out.

I have a 1924 15-30 also. Casting date is 2/13/24. It ran an American number one saw mill for many years. I've used it on a blower when we had a Havest Day on my dads farm back in the early 80's. I use to oil the valves every day. There is a lot of differences to the later, post 1926 engines, and the early engine. Round governor housing, open governor control rods, Cast Iron front hub caps, multi disk clutch.... My tractor is on original steel wheels and has the heavy duty road wheels with angle iron style cleats. It runs good but is rusty, Someday I will restore it. I also have a casting date, 4/26/24, 10-20 that is a book end to it. Dandy Dave!

Thanx for the ansewers guys.I have a big oil can that I keep on the tractor and oil the rockers every time on start up.Only to be used in parades and antique pulls.Cant remember where I got the sleeves and pistons.Could only get 3 sleeves.Turned another one out of a cat sleeve. Hoss P.S. will check my receipts to find out where I got sleeves and pistons.
