Ser# of first Stage II

Is there a way to figure out either the serial number or the aprroximate build date of the first Stage II Super H? Looks like mine is a November 53
Stage II.

First stage 2 SH, serial # 19234. First SH built in nov. 1953, 19234. First one built in dec. 53, 20707.
First built 1954, 22202.

But do you know when thsy switched to the Stage II. The three bolt starter, disc brakes, and the battery under the seat?

also...different grill, front end bolster casting is changed, torque tube is changed.

ordo: I believe DSlater told you - #19234, Nov '53. He just forgot to put in "stage II" in his answer. mike

All SH had disc brakes. Battery box,3 bolt starter mounted toward left side, along with the different housing started at serial # 19234 and continued to end of SH production. Lower than that serial # had the 2 bolt starter and housing with the starter to the right side. Starter was moved to make room for a hydraulic reservoir. Fuel tank outlet was moved more to rear in tank to give more clearance between bowl and hydraulic reservoir.
If you bought the SH I saw advertized it didn't have a hydraulic pump on engine or a hydraulic reservoir. Best I could tell in the picture, it did have the stage 2 clutch housing, but it wasn't clear enough to be sure.
