Hi all , I'm a newbe in Farmalls, and looking at buying a supposed to be H . How can I tell if it's a Super H . Its' 4 cyl.gas , 4 spd. , no 3pnt. but does have 1 remote wetline .

Thanks

Look at the serial number. An H will have a serial number prefix of "FBH"
The Super H will have a prefix of "SH"

Look at the brake housings,Super H has mechanical disc brakes,H simply has a band brake.

The band breaks on an H have a sheet metal brake cover bolts around the edge and disc brakes on an SH have cast iron brake covers with long bolts through the cover.

Both a H and Super H will have 5 gears forward and one reverse. If you only have 4 gears forward you have something else like a Super C or C or even a different Farmall Model. Hope this helps, Hal.

Thanks for the clarification but I would be very, very surprised about any Super H's being factory on steel. I think any Super H would have a 5 speed forward transmission but am never amazed at what pops up when these things get played around with, Hal.

I had a 300 for many years and the book stated that fifth could be locked out by changing one of the platform bolts with a longer one. If a previous owner had a kid or hired help running the tractor this change could have been made.

The idea was that if you had a tractor on steel and upgraded to rubber changing that one bolt unlocked fifth gear.
