CUB Correct Wiroing Harness

Need help in determining the proper wiring harness for a '48 Cub with distributer. Picked up a pretty good one but some on had clipped the wiring harness at varioua point to steal the voltage regulator and variou other things. Description for this year list harness with or without ground wire. How do you determine which one or does it make a difference. I'm not a electrical wizard.

As I said not much with electrical stuff, what does cut out system mean and why does that system not require a ground? Thanks for the help!

Cut-out systems didn't have a full voltage regulator, just a cut-out unit mounted on top of the generator. The cut-out disconnected the generator from the battery when the generator wasn't charging to keep the battery from discharging through the generator. Later tractors had a voltage regulator mounted below the generator that controlled generator voltage and included the cut-out.

Prior to including ground wires in the harness, the electrical ground connections were provided through the tractor chassis and sheet metal. All electrical components have to be mounted with a good ground connection.
