transmission noise?

I have a Farmall 300 that has developed a deep "clunk" under the platform when you engage the clutch. This noise is only heard once until you stop and re-engage the clutch. Is there a particular area that could be a starting point?

A guy was having a similar problem the other day and a lot of guys mentioned making sure the wheels were tight at all points.
 
Yes the wheels are tight. I had a 400 years ago with a similar problem and it turned out to be a pilot bearing between the trans and TA section. Any thoughts? thanks.
