450 transmission pinion locked up?

I need help with a 450 lp gas that I inherited from my father. It has been out in the weather for a long time. I am trying to move it to a shop, but when I jacked up the rear wheels, they will turn a couple of degress, freely, but even though the transmission appears to be in neutral, that is all they will move. Any thoughts on how to free up the rear wheels where I can tow it to a nearby shop?

Most likely one or both brakes have rusted and stuck to the disc and housing. Disassemble the brakes and try again.

If the bull pinion gears are stuck due to the brakes sticking, the brakes do not have to be disassembled. Just loosen the five cap screws per side until the the lock washers spin. This will give the brake housings enough room to free up the brake discs.

The few degrees of rotation is the gear lash between the bull pinion and bull gear.

Now i have seen it where you can remove ALL the brake housing bolts and the brake housing is plum STUCK and repeated wacks from a 4 # hammer had a problem getting them to break loose . Never force anything --------GET A BIGGER HAMMER !!!!!!!

If you are in a area where it has been cold you could have ice in the bottom of your rearend and your bullgears are frozen. take your plug out carefully to see if you have oil or ice in the rearend. Bob

I have seen many people with a stuck transmission trying to move it to a shop. Why do people over think the problem? Pull a brake shaft and let the spider gears spin. Just don't pull it fast or very far.
