Gaskets-Leaking

I know this will come off as me being lazy, but, is there anyway to stop the leak of the gasket where the tractor splits without splitting it and replacing the gasket? Its not a steady leak but it accumulates over time. Please help!

Thanks, Cole

is this on a H? and are you talking where the bell housing meets the engine or where the torque tube meets the rear end ? either way there seals that have gone bad not gaskets, but im not sure where exactly you mean.

Sorry, they are at the bell housing, In my haste to paint it, I didn't replace the seal, only to find it leaked. Im wondering if there is any other way to stop the leak without splitting the tractor.

Unfortunately there is no real way to stop the leaking with out replacing the seal, in this case the rear main seal. The only thing that you can try is to add a 'seal stop leak' product to the oil in the engine. I have tried it in the past with a Cub but the leak was to much to stop it. However iv had friends that have used it with some success. If it just leaks a little bit then it maybe a viable option. But the real fix is to fix the seal, anything else is a band-aid.

I was thinking about a RTV silicone sealer? It says you can use interior or exterior surfaces like cast parts.

That wont work, you want that oil to either drain or stay in the engine. IF you put RTV on the outside it will keep the oil in the flywheel/bell housing. When running it will sling oil all over the clutch, flywheel and pressure plate, this obviously is bad. IF you let it drip out at least it wont build up there and get over everything. How much is it really dripping ? a cap full, a cup, or a quart?
