OK when I advance the throttle a little too fast tractor will go into a hunt condition . Pull throttle back and it will settle out . Saw teeth are wore out and I have to hold throttle open ( I have ordered a new one )
Any thoughts
Also manual says the the dist, shaft screw and the shaft that goes to gov, take out screw and put in a grease fitting and lub them with as few pumps of grease . Till grease can be seen from over fill hole . Where is that little hole ?

These gals still work for their keep !

That little hole is on the opposite side of the screw where you are going to put the grease nipple. On the engine side. There are two screws i usually put some grease in each one.

Hunting at High Idle (little load full throttle)
is caused by one (or a combination of) these:
Governor linkage to carb loose at the pivot points.
(Redrill the holes and use a larger diameter rod with a threaded on clevis to tighten it up and be adjusted so full throttle from governor is full throttle plate open.)
Governor bearings worn out.
(Rebuild the governor)
Carb either rich or lean at high idle.
(Adjust the carb)
Fuel delivery restriction in main jet.
(Clean the carb then adjust)
Broken advance springs in distributor, bad timing.
Check rotor for spring action in the CW direction, if none, or it stays where it is put, repair.
The throttle saw teeth can be filed deeper with a small triangular file.

There is also a bumper spring which will help with your hunting issue. It is located underneath the governor, remove the acorn nut, back off the lock nut and adjust it in. You may need to entirely remove it and clean/replace the spring. This is quick and easy to do. Sam

I will go through the timing and check all of that , plus check carb, setting , my thoughts are that the float setting in Carb may be off . As Ja suggested restrictions in main jet .
