Hal why are the Bradford UK buit tractors (B250 B275 B414 etc tractors dung. The late Hugh McKay would certainly not like the remark if he was still with us and i do not like it either. Dissapointed MJ
 
MJ, on our family farm we had B414D, 434 and 384 over the years. They all gave excellent service.
Put over 15,000 Hrs on the B414 without engine overhaul or clutch replacement. B414D out lasted neighbours JD 2010D. He had to do complete overhaul at 5500 Hrs.
In eastern Canada the B414,434,444,384 tractors were more common on family farms than the MF 35/135. They were a common loader tractor. The only weak points were the Lucas electric system and hard to start in cold weather. Installing a block heater or recirculating heater fixed the cold starting problem.
The USA assembled units were somewhat different than the UK build units.

Hi jim thanks for your support on this subject. A picture of a high clear B275 was put on Help Identify recentley and our friend El Toro referd to the B275 tractors as dung and i just had to say somthing. Like yourself i have had a lot to do with these tractor and Manitou fork lifts wich used the same skid units and i am full of prase for them. I have got the 49th B250 mane in 1955 and i compete in about 30 ploughing matches a year with this tractor. I hope El Toro will reply and tell us why he dose not like the tractors. Hope you are keeping OK Jim and if you are like me you are waiting for the warmer weather and the tractor shows. I have got to do the ring commentry at 10 shows this year including the one you met me at in Yorkshire. MJ
 
I don't know anything about the British model tractors but I bought a B450 diesel in the mid 1970's and that was one heck of a tractor. Wish I had never sold it. Only one thing, It was also hard to start when cold but it had the power for that size of tractor.
