I am looking for a Super MTA my grandpa bought new as a kid in highschool it was painted different because he liked the looks of the 560s better so he had the grill and side stripe painted white. it also had a power steering unit and a M&W 3 point hitch. it was sold at auction in 1992 in whiteland Indiana and last known it was sold to a guy in tennessee. abulutly any help would be much appricated. thanks Cort Lamey

You might try putting an add in a widely circulated farm paper that has circulation in that area. Around here, Iowa Farmer Today is one of the most widely circulated magazines. Don't know about Tenn, though.

Roses, Do you have a clipping of the auction sale bill? Maybe you could check w/newspaper the ad was placed in and try to contact the auctioneer. No newspaper info, check w/the local histerical :^) society if it was a local paper and search for the sale bill for auction company. I say this as local auctioneer keeps paperwork from his auctions. Yup, may be a lot of leg work, but by your posting, you obviously are willing to go the extra mile to try retrieving your grandpa"s Super MTA. With that paint job, someones memory may be jogged. Possibly make posters seeking "tractor whereabouts and mail to engine/tractor clubs in Tennessee. On the left side of this page; under "Community" click on the "Show Guide" and "Events Calendar" links and see if any exhibit contacts are listed. Under the "Galleries" heading, if you have a photo, post it using the "Stuck & Troubled" link. A note to others, if a tractor is being sold by family/friends/enemies, why not jot down a serial number, it could be of help in such a detective task. Please post back if you are successful w/a picture. I wish you well in your search.

I was going to say that a serial number sure wouldn't hurt. You may never know if this is actually the tractor is it has been repainted. If you talk to the guy who painted it you will be certain, but if he has passed you can not be positive.

I think the auctioneer is going to be your best bet.

(quoted from post at 11:08:39 02/26/10) sflem849, that is just creepy...

It matches the paint job, and it's in INDIANA...

I didn't look what part of Indiana, but the south half is plenty close to TN (IIRC that is where it went) I have been looking for it ever since I read the post...;)

Lots of tractors got paint schemes from later models... one of Dad's JD 60s was painted like a "20 series". I'd look for the steering and M&W 3 point.

(quoted from post at 12:33:51 02/26/10) There is a Super MTA with white grille and stripe listed in the photo ads right here on yesterday's tractor. In LaCrosse, IN here is the link

That is the same ugly beast I linked to. I can't see if it has a three point or ps. That bad news for you, I get the finders fee bc I posted the link first :)
